Robotic dog sitters for your little furballs: this is the promise of the American start-up Companion, which is riding the wave of pet adoptions that have occurred since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Far from being limited to monitoring the dog in the absence of their masters, the device can feed them, teach them tricks with the voice of their owner or even detect behavioral changes symptomatic of a medical problem, reveals the American media Axios.
A personalized daily program
Thanks to a camera, the device can transmit live videos of your animal to absent owners, when it responds positively to a learning event, for example.
On the other hand, according to the presentation video offered by the company, the device, which looks like a kind of large box on four legs, does not seem capable of moving around the home.

Former Google, the founder says he originally had this idea to meet the needs of his own dog, named Boomer.
The business of connected objects dedicated to animals is having an undeniable success: connected bowl or collar, smart camera, tracking applications… According to a study by the Morgan Stanley bank, spending on pets in the United States should reach 277,000 million in 2030, or 134% of its 2019 level. The Companion device, on its promises, seems to meet most of these devices.
At the moment only available in the United States, Companion has already opened its pre-orders, whose first devices will be delivered in May 2024. The cost price is shown at 49 dollars per month (around 45 euros).
