Last week, US public radio NPR became the first major media outlet to leave Twitter in protest of the network’s new policy, bought by billionaire Elon Musk in October for $44 billion.

Domino effect?

On Monday, the public media group CBC/Radio-Canada had done the same following the decision of Elon Musk’s platform to put the label “government-funded media”, deploring an attack on its “independence” through a “misleading” message. label.

However, Swedish public radio, whose main account is labeled “publicly funded media”, did not protest the point, considering it a “correct definition” of RS funding.

The departure of the main media from the Twitter platform occurs in the context of the establishment of a controversial new certification policy, the network since April 20 grants its famous blue mark to those who will pay to take advantage of it.
