In the absence of successful candidates, an AI presents the weather in Switzerland

Since April 3, an avatar has been presenting the weather forecast in the Swiss M channel media.

Morning hours, specific skills, M the media had found candidates to present the weather on their channel. But since no application was accepted, the company turned to Jade, an avatar created with artificial intelligence, reports 20 minutes.

Jade took her first steps in the air on April 3 to present the weather forecast for French-speaking Switzerland. “Tuesday morning the sky will be covered with low, compact clouds.” The information, the tone, everything is there. Only a very fixed look and unnatural gestures can lead to confusion.

ethical issues

While weather reports are getting stronger and becoming a real piece of educational information in the face of global warming, the arrival of AI in this area raises questions. To this, Philippe Morax replies: “it is obvious that we approach these tools with vigilance, especially when it comes to sources of information.”

Calling in an AI is obviously practical as Jade is always in good shape and is never absent. But the CEO intends to continue down this path and is considering using AI in other areas. “We refer to the use of AI as a tool to improve and produce content,” he concludes.

This is not the first time that an artificial intelligence has submitted a weather report. In 2016, in China, an AI, developed by Microsoft, appeared on the Shanghai Dragon TV channel. Thanks to a constantly updated database, the system was able to provide feedback in real time.

It was recently in Kuwait that an AI appeared on the screen. A Kuwaiti media has presented a virtual host generated by artificial intelligence.
