“It’s trial time”: why Elon Musk wants to sue Microsoft

The owner of the platform accuses the American group of having used Twitter data without permission.

Microsoft would not have sought Twitter’s consent to use its data. This is at least the reason why Elon Musk is moving forward to threaten the American group with legal proceedings. As often happens, the billionaire’s accusations are not accompanied by any kind of detail or proof, specifies the British media BBC.

End of free API access

The owner of the social network then responded to a publication mentioning the eviction of the company from the Microsoft advertising platform. As of April 25, the information giant’s intelligent advertising campaigns will no longer allow communication on Twitter, specifies a note from the group.

Microsoft’s decision was reportedly due to the end of free access to the Twitter API. The programming interface of the social network allows the collection of a large amount of data about the operation of the platform.

Due to lack of profitability, Twitter has chosen to charge for access to this large amount of information. Officially, this is to fight the proliferation of automated accounts. However, it could be put to very practical use. But this is how the alerts for earthquakes, bad weather or fires derived from it ceased.

not a satisfactory solution

Pointed out by a netizen about the end of free access to the Twitter API, Elon Musk assured that he understood his point of view while criticizing Microsoft.

Sure Twitter website, the company specifies that access to its API requires a subscription of $100 per month. This option automatically writes 3,000 tweets and reads 10,000 posts each month. For more intensive uses, such as that of Microsoft, a questionnaire must be completed to propose an adequate price.
