Subscribers to Netflix’s ad-supported offer will soon benefit from better picture quality at no additional cost.
In its letter to investors, the platform announces that they will thus have access to a 1080p resolution, instead of the current 720p. In the same way, they will be able to benefit from two streams simultaneously.
These advantages are already implemented in Canada and Spain, two countries that are often used to test new uses. Contacted by Tech&Co, Netflix France confirms that France will also be affected quickly, without giving an exact date.
More profitable?
The “Essential with Ads” offer will now become “Standard with Ads”. Last October, Netflix launched this offer at 5.99 euros per month in an attempt to reach a new audience. Quite a winning bet: two months later the site had 860,000 new customers with this offer.
Visibly profitable for the company, the subscription with ads is highly promoted by Netflix which, in parallel, tends to mask its basic “Essential” offer at 8.99 euros, this time without advertising.
