Not so fleeting. WhatsApp now gives users the option to keep their ephemeral messages sent. As its name suggests, these messages disappear after 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days, depending on the user’s preferences.
This new function, called “Keep in Chat”, allows you to save ephemeral messages considered important. Specifically, senders will be able to choose the types of messages they want to save.
As specified by the platform, the sender will take control of the messages sent. This gives you control over who can save your shipments. If the recipient wishes to keep a message, he must send an authorization request to the sender, who will obviously be free to reject it.
Available for group chats
The new feature will also be available for group chats. The group administrator will have two options: allow everyone to save messages or grant themselves the only right.
Without giving a specific date, WhatsApp says the feature will roll out globally in the coming weeks.
Last March, WhatsApp had already brought a novelty for group chats. Until now, when a person shared an invite link to their group, anyone with the link could join that group. Admins now have the power to accept or deny entry to the conversation.
