If there is an industry that has benefited from the pandemic, it is content creation. A new means of communication for brands, influencer marketing experienced its largest annual increase (34.5%) between 2020 and 2021.
In a report, Goldman Sachs valued the content creation industry at $250 billion. The US bank also estimates that this economic fabric is expected to almost double. By 2027, that valuation is expected to hit $480 billion, Business Insider says.
Only 4% of professionals
The study counts approximately 50 million creators in the world. They are mainly millennials. This category represents 45% in the United States. However, only 15% belong to Generation Z.
Among all content creators, almost all (96%) average $1,000 in revenue. In contrast, the remaining 4% – qualified as professionals – have incomes of around $100,000.
Goldman Sachs predicts an increase in the number of content creators. In the next five years, there should be 10-20% new players each year. However, the proportion of professionals should remain between 3 and 5%.
