A cyberattack by pro-Russian hackers targeted the websites of several French municipalities, including Bry-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne), which filed a complaint.
The hackers transmitted in Cyrillic on the Bry-sur-Marne site “pro-Russian propaganda messages, namely ‘Respect Russia! Otherwise we will continue to make war on you,'” the Val-de prefecture detailed. -Marne.
According to Jean-Philippe Navarro, director of Abtel, 45 websites were affected by the cyberattack last weekend, out of around 1,000 sites hosted by the company. These sites, including some thirty municipalities, used the same content management system developed by a web agency acquired by Abtel six years ago.

“This relatively efficient system at that time is no longer efficient today, there is no correction of security vulnerabilities. Several months or even years ago clients were warned that the risks were significant, but redoing a site from scratch represents a significant budget,” Navarro told AFP.
Charles Aslangul (Les Républicains), mayor of Bry-sur-Marne, said he had filed a complaint against X at the Nogent-sur-Marne police station on Tuesday for “fraudulent access to an automated data processing system and alteration or modification of the latter”. This crime is punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros.
The Bry-sur-Marne town hall site became accessible again on Wednesday, the city councilor said, specifying that it did not contain any personal data on the city’s inhabitants.
