Uber is expanding its services into new markets. The VTC service announced on Thursday, May 18, a new feature designed for teens and their families: “teen accounts.”
In some cities in the United States and Canada, youth ages 13 to 17 can now use Uber services and book a ride by creating an account linked to their parent’s.
Follow the route live
To reassure parents, the brand ensures that several security features have been implemented. Youth ages 13-17 can only be served by verified and experienced drivers, and parents can track the progress of the ride live and contact the driver via the app.
Uber did not say if this novelty was intended to be extended to other countries. On the other hand, the brand has unveiled other innovations, such as grouped races, which allow you to order a route through several directions, automatically calculating the most efficient route. Here again, France is not currently involved.
If French teens can’t book trips alone yet, they can order on Uber Eats through family profiles.
