My fault. The Twitch platform announced on the night of Wednesday to Thursday that it would reverse its decisions made the day before, after having caused outrage with the update of its rules regarding advertising broadcast in streams.
However, the update was not yet visible this Thursday morning on the French “promotional content guidelines” page of the Twitch site.
Various Restrictions
“Partnerships are essential for streamers to grow and generate income. We won’t stop them from connecting with brands,” the platform wrote.
On Tuesday, June 6, Twitch updated its rules regarding advertising delivered by streamers during live broadcasts. The latter could no longer insert ads in the banners, explained Dexerto.
Streamers could no longer “discuss, recommend, or present products or services, or have sponsored gaming sessions.” In addition, Twitch limited “the size of sponsor logos to 3% of the total image, unless the logo is in the background of the stream,” noted streamer Jean Massiet.
Sparking an outcry, Twitch publicly apologized just hours after the new rules were announced. On Wednesday, the platform said it “appreciated” the comments posted by hundreds on social media.
