These amazing AI-generated QR codes really work

Despite their artistic appearance, these QR codes can be read with a simple smartphone scanner and point to a functional site.

A user has found a way to sublimate simple QR codes into complex works of art. A netizen known as nhciao has revealed several impressive and fully functional QR codes on Reddit. Created with Stable Diffusion intelligence, these QR codes, presumably inspired by Japanese art, are readable by anyone with a smartphone.

If the appearance does not evoke a QR code at first glance, it is enough to scan it with the camera of your smartphone to realize it. All scanned images refer to the Chinese website qrbtf, which allows you to generate QR codes.

These images are a far cry from the small black squares on a white background that are often found in QR codes. The only common point among all these images, the three squares, top left, top right and bottom right, which allow the code to be “calibrated” and therefore scanned correctly.

All these images seem to have been made with Stable Diffusion, since their author posted them in the dedicated subsection of Reddit. Stable Diffusion, as a reminder, is an artificial intelligence that makes it possible to produce gorgeous images with just a few lines of text (or many more), similar to Midjourney or Dall-E software.

QR codes have become quite common in everyday life, be it in a restaurant to read the menu, to register for something, or to read information on a billboard, for example. To view these stunning images, artificial intelligence could enable highlighting and personalization for use.
