A trip on public transport or a walk in the middle of the forest can quickly become very long without music. And to remedy that, Spotify is working on a new type of playlist: the “Offline Mix.” Daniel Ek, the CEO of the streaming music service, announced a few days ago on Twitter the progressive testing of this new feature.
This “offline mix” will allow users to benefit from an already downloaded playlist, even offline, which can therefore be used when there is no network but also when the phone is in airplane mode. Spotify’s pre-built playlist will gather recently or frequently played music by the user. The music list can last, above all, several hours, in case the lack of network were to be prolonged.
Already present on YouTube Music
As indicated by the CEO of the streaming service to 500 million users, this new feature is currently in the testing phase. For example, no details have been provided about how often this playlist is updated. However, the official arrival of “Offline Mix” should take place soon.
Please note that Spotify is not a pioneer in this feature. In fact, YouTube Music has offered an “Offline Mixtape” for several years, allowing the user to choose up to 100 songs that are continuously saved to the device.
