Have the Beatles sing together for the last time. Paul McCartney explained to BBC Radio 4 on Tuesday that he had used artificial intelligence to record an unreleased Beatles song.
If the title of the song has not been revealed, it would be a John Lennon composition from 1978 entitled “Now and Then”, according to the British outlet. To integrate the late band member, artificial intelligence was used to synthesize the voice from excerpts from old demo tapes.
An aborted project in the past
Unpublished titles by the Beatles had already resurfaced in the past. In 1995 and 1996, the songs “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love” had marked the first compositions of the group for 25 years and the death of John Lennon in 1980. These recordings had been made under the direction of Jeff Lynne. The producer clarified that an adaptation of “Now and Then” had already been attempted at this time.
According to Paul McCartney, it was Georges Harrison, who died in 2001, who buried the project. According to his friend, he had called the piece “waste” and previously refused to work on it.
For several months, fans of the group have been using AI models to bring the Beatles back to life. But this time, it was one of the original members who led the project. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are the last two surviving Beatles.
