What if, eventually, Twitter becomes inaccessible to people who don’t pay for Twitter Blue? This new decision by Elon Musk in any case suggests that the rights will gradually be restricted for common users of the social network. In fact, the owner of Twitter has announced that, in the next few days, a new update will arrive on the different devices.
This update should make it possible to restrict access to private messages for all users who do not pay for the Twitter Blue subscription. According to a screenshot by user Alessandro Paluzzi, who is always up to date with new social media additions, Twitter will prevent any user from adding a follower to a group or even sending them a message. . However, this restriction will not apply to Twitter Blue subscribers.
Keep the bots away
In a tweet, Elon Musk justified this choice by the need to end private messages bombarded with robot invitations, which have multiplied in recent weeks.
However, this system of limiting private messages will not be exclusive to Twitter. In the professional social network LinkedIn, for several years now it is necessary to subscribe to the Premium subscription to be able to send a private message to a person who does not follow the user.
Whether this new rule will allow Twitter to gain new subscribers remains to be seen. At the moment, the payment offer of the social network continues without having the success expected by Elon Musk. At the end of April, the service had around 640,000 subscribers, while the social network registered 500 million active accounts. Most recently, we learned that more than half of Twitter Blue’s early subscribers had already unsubscribed.
