At least three people have died and several are missing in southern Brazil due to an extratropical cyclone, according to a new balance from local authorities.
“Unfortunately, we have confirmed the third death and people are still missing,” Rio Grande do Sul state governor Eduardo Leite said on the social network Twitter on Friday.

The National Institute of Meteorology, an official agency of the Brazilian government, reported that the total amount of rain observed at the conventional station in Porto Alegre was 141.7 millimeters (mm), a value higher than the average for the month June and the second month. highest value observed in one day since measurements began in 1909.
The agency added that forecasts point to high volumes, including in the Brazilian states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and in the north and northeast of Rio Grande do Sul. The south coast of São Paulo will also be affected.
