The head of the Catholic Church recalled that next Tuesday is United Nations World Refugee Day and, therefore, asked the world to spare no effort to prevent shipwrecks like the one that occurred early Wednesday morning, which caused at least 78 deaths and hundreds missing.
“I renew my prayers for those who lost their lives and implore that everything possible be done to prevent tragedies like this,” he said.
Francis also called for prayers for peace in Uganda, where dozens of people, between the ages of 37 and 41 at the last count, were killed in an attack on a secondary school in the west of the country, which was allegedly carried out by the Allied Democratic Forces. a rebel group linked to the Islamic State.
