Russian representative in Ukraine’s Zaporijia region, Vladimir Rogov, on Sunday acknowledged the loss of “operational control” over a village in the area as part of the Ukrainian counter-offensive.
“By filling the entrances and western outskirts of Pyatijatki with the corpses of hundreds of its soldiers, the enemy was able to take operational control”wrote Rogov on the social network Telegram, quoted by the Spanish agency EFE.
The president of the Together with Russia movement in Zaporijia said Russian artillery bombarded the enemy to prevent them from entrenching in the place.
If Ukrainian forces manage to push into Pyatijatki and receive reinforcements, Zherebianki will be the next location in their sights, he warned.
Rogov added that Ukrainian forces could launch an offensive against the city of Vasilivka from there.
The Russian Defense Ministry did not confirm the loss of Pyatijatki in today’s daily report, but acknowledged that the most intense fighting took place on the Zaporijia front.
According to the Russian army, “all enemy attacks were repelled” and in Zaporijia alone, Kiev troops lost “more than 200 soldiers and 33 tanks” in one day.
Melitopol mayor Ivan Fedorov said today that residents of the city have recorded the movement of Russian army and equipment in transit from the Kherson region to Zaporijia.
“Our residents see the movement of military equipment, heavy weapons and personnel of the occupiers from the direction of Novaya Kakhovka and Kakhovka,” Ferovod told Ukrainian television.
“From there, enemy forces were transferred to the Zaporijia front line,” he added, according to Ukrinform.
The Ukrainian agency reported that the Russian army carried out 96 attacks with various types of weapons on 20 villages in the Zaporijia region on Saturday.
Information about the course of the war caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022 cannot be immediately confirmed by independent sources.
Ukraine has been waging an ongoing counter-offensive into Russian-held areas, with many casualties on both sides, the British defense ministry said.
The number of casualties from the war is unknown, but several sources, including the UN, have admitted it will be high.
