One person died and 20 were injured this morning in a shooting on a busy street in Willowbrook, in the US state of Illinois, where hundreds of people celebrated the Emancipation Day festivity, advances Europa Press.
According to that Spanish news agency, which quotes the local fire chief in statements to the Chicago branch of ABC, the incident occurred around 00:30 local time.
Between 200 and 300 people, says Europa Press, were in the street celebrating ‘Juneteenth’, a national holiday in the United States that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans, when the shots were fired, without the perpetrators being known.
