Attacks from Ukraine hit two border regions in Russia early Monday morning, leaving seven people injured, including a child, according to local governors.
In the Belgorod region, several residential buildings in the Valuisk district were hit, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported in Telegram. “Valuisk municipality is under attack by Ukrainian troops. According to preliminary information, seven people have been injured, including a child,” the official said. All the injured have been hospitalized, he added.
Attacks in the Kursk border area hit two places and there were no casualties, Governor Roman Starovoit said.
“Ukrainian troops hit the villages of Tyotkino and Popovo-Lezhachi this morning,” Starovoit wrote in Telegram, adding that the attacks caused power outages and damaged several vehicles.
In Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, Governor Sergei Aksyonov said two drones were shot down overnight.
Attacks on Russian regions bordering Ukraine and Crimea have increased in recent weeks as Ukrainian forces launch a counter-offensive to recapture lands seized by Russian forces.
