Drinks and dancing. Video shows British Conservative Party party during lockdown

A video released this Saturday by the British newspaper The Mirror shows one of the controversial parties of the Conservative Party during the confinement at Christmas 2020, investigated in the Partygate case.

Footage shows members of the party, then led by Boris Johnson, dancing, eating and drinking without distancing measures or masks, with one man joking that they are “skipping the rules”.

According to The Mirror, 24 people attended this party, held on December 14, 2020, days before the British Prime Minister announced stricter restrictions to combat the pandemic.

The meeting will have been organized by the then mayor of London, Shaun Bailey, one of the people identified in the video being Ben Mallet [vestido com camisa branca e suspensórios com estampado a vermelho]Bailey’s campaign manager during the 2021 election.

When asked about the video, a Conservative Party spokesman said it had learned of an “unauthorized social gathering” and that the party had taken “disciplinary action against four officials” who were present at the party.

Boris Johnson was not at this event, but the former prime minister will have participated in at least six events during the confinement in the United Kingdom that he justified for professional reasons.

The parliamentary commission that analyzed the Partygate case concluded that Boris Johnson “was aware of the rules and guidelines regarding Covid-19” when he organized parties in Downing Street during the period of confinement, for which reason he “lied” to the deputies.

After receiving the report on the Partygate case, Boris Johnson resigned as a deputy.
