‘Massive’ nighttime drone attack in Kiev, Ukrainian officials report

Russian forces launched a major drone strike in Kiev overnight and also attacked other regions such as Lviv and Zaporijia, Ukrainian officials said on Tuesday. There are currently no reports of casualties following these attacks.

“New massive airstrike on the capital,” the Kyiv City Military Administration wrote, adding that it was the first attack on the city in 18 days using Iranian-made Shahed explosive drones.

“According to the usual tactics for massive UAV attacks [aparelhos aéreos não tripulados na sigla em inglês]the drones entered the capital in waves, from different directions. The air raid lasted more than three hours,” the city’s military administration wrote on the Telegram social network.

Nearly two dozen enemy targets were detected and destroyed by our air defense forces and assets in the airspace around Kiev. There is no information on casualties or destruction at this time, the Ukrainian authorities added.

In Lviv, in the west, “critical infrastructure” was hit by drones, Maksym Kozytski, head of the regional administration, wrote in Telegram, without elaborating. There are no reports of injuries.

Zaporijia’s military administration said the southern city and surrounding area were the target of a “massive attack” on civilian targets.

Three Shahed drones were also shot down in the southern region of Mykolaiv, Governor Vitaliy Kim said on Telegram.

The Ukrainian General Staff said that of 30 drones launched by Russian forces at night, 28 were shot down by Ukrainian air defenses.
