Police raided the headquarters of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Olympic Games (OCOG) in Paris on Tuesday. The authorities’ moves come when there is just over a year left before the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
It remains unclear why police carried out the searches, but the organizing committee for the 2024 Paris Olympics said it was “fully cooperating in facilitating the investigation”.
The searches took place at the commission’s headquarters, known as COJO, and at the offices of Solideo, responsible for building the Olympic infrastructure, a source close to the investigation told AFP.
The investigations were carried out by investigators from the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption, Financial and Tax Crimes and by the financial brigade of the Paris Judicial Police. said another source close to the trial, quoted by AFP.
Two years ago, two reports from the French anti-corruption agency (AFA) pointed to the risk of “a violation” of the values of administrative fairness and “conflict of interest”.

The reports focus on the COJO, but also on Solideo, the company responsible for the work for the event, with anti-corruption agency inspectors believing there are “inaccurate and incomplete” purchases and situations of potential conflict of interest.
The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris are scheduled for the period between July 26 and August 11 next year.
