The Spanish search ship Guardamar Polimnia rescued 53 people of sub-Saharan origin on Tuesday, including a minor, when they were sailing in a rubber boat off Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands.
According to the Spanish news agency EFE, citing government sources, the ship was sighted by a merchant ship at 00:43. In the rubber boat there were 42 men, 10 women and a minor.
The crew of the Guardamar Polimnia rescued the migrants and disembarked them at the La Cebolla pier, in the Lanzarote capital, Arrecife, at 2:40 a.m.
