The Spanish authorities rescued and disembarked in Gran Canaria, Spain, 63 people who were sailing aboard an inflatable boat, including a child and 12 women, the emergency services informed Efe.
The passengers were disembarked last night at the Arquinquín pier, Mogán municipality.
Upon arrival on the island, the 63 people received humanitarian assistance at the landing site, the Spanish authorities added.
Previously, a trawler located, less than a kilometer from the coast of Los Cocoteros, Lanzarote, an inflatable boat with 53 migrants on board.
In this boat was the corpse of a pregnant woman who did not resist the journey, sources from the Maritime Rescue and Emergency services 112 told Efe.
In recent weeks, the number of precarious boats with immigrants on board off the Canary Islands has increased, which the authorities attribute to “good weather conditions at sea.”
According to the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, between January and June 15, 5,914 immigrants arrived in the Canary Islands.
