Frederic Forrest, ‘Apocalypse Now’ Actor, Dies at 86

The American actor Frederic Forrest, who played Jay ‘Chef Hicks in ‘Apocalypse Now’ (1979) by Francis Ford Coppola, died this Friday at the age of 86, according to the press specialized in cinema in the United States.

Forrest died at his home in Santa Monica, California, after a prolonged illness, his friend and fellow actor Barry Primus confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

On Twitter, actress Bette Midler, who co-starred with Forrest in “The Rose” (1979), called him “a remarkable actor and a brilliant human being.”

Frederic Forrest was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Houston Dyer in the musical drama “The Rose.”
