Zelensky celebrates “advance in all directions” of the country’s military

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday praised the “advance in all directions” of the Ukrainian army as part of the offensive to regain Russian-held territories.

“Today [segunda-feira] our warriors have advanced in all directions and this is a happy day. I wish the boys had more days like thisZelensky said during a speech quoted by the Europa Press news agency.

“Thank you for doing everything you could to save the lives of our warriors (…) It was a very busy day, a day full of emotions. I had the honor of honoring our warriors, thanking them personally, shake their handhe added.

The British defense minister said on the social network Twitter on Monday that Ukraine had already recaptured 300 square kilometers in the summer offensive, which is “more territory than Russia captured in the winter offensives”.

The military offensive launched by Russia in Ukraine on February 24, 2022 has so far led to the flight of more than 14.7 million people – 6.5 million internally displaced persons and more than 8.2 million to European countries – according to the latest data from the UN, which classifies this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since World War II (1939-1945).

The Russian invasion – justified by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russian security – was condemned by the international community at large, which responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and Russia impose political and economic sanctions.
