Attack in Kramatorsk: eight killed and 56 wounded. Zelensky wants ‘Russian terrorists’ in court

An attack by Russia on Tuesday in Kramatorsk, in eastern Ukraine, left at least eight people dead and 56 wounded, according to a new assessment released this Wednesday by the country’s emergency services.

Among the fatalities are three children, Ukraine’s emergency services reported on the Telegram platform.

“Rescuers are scouring the rubble of the destroyed building and looking for people likely to be under the wreckage.” added.

Ukraine’s president on Tuesday called for the “Russian terrorists” to be brought to court for aggression against this city in Donetsk province.

“Each of these displays of terror repeatedly proves to the whole world that Russia deserves only one thing as a result of everything it has done: defeat and a court, fair and legal trials against all Russian murderers and terrorists,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

He also referred to the anniversary of a Russian attack on a shopping center in the city of Kremenchuk, which killed more than 20 people.

“Exactly on the anniversary of the attack by Russian terrorists in Kremenchuk, in the shopping center, when 22 people were killed, the ferocious Russians again fired rockets into the Kremenchuk region,” he said in a speech, quoted by news agency Europa Press. .

The Ukrainian president also thanked the United States for the new aid package of $ 500 million (456 million euros), also announced on Tuesday, with ammunition for Patriot anti-aircraft systems and artillery pieces.

The Russian attack on Kramatorsk hit a restaurant, Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko said on the Telegram platform.

“A restaurant and several homes were damaged,” the official said.

Regional governor of Donetsk province, Pavlo Kyrylenko, said on television that the restaurant was hit by two rockets and that there was “a large concentration of civilians”.

According to the official, “several homes, shops, cafes and other establishments were damaged near the site of the impact,” adding that the attack is “another war crime” committed by the Russians against civilians on Ukrainian soil.

The city of Kramatorsk had a population of about 150,000 before the invasion of Ukraine on February 24 last year and is the last major urban concentration under Ukrainian control in the east, about 30 kilometers from the front line.
