The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, received his country’s Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin on Tuesday, who, as a gift, offered him a nuclear bomb before presenting a report. A rather unusual memory.
“Let me fulfill a mission,” the minister began by saying. As soon as he saw the object, Lukashenko asked: “Did you bring me a bomb?” And it was “so it is.”
“Let me give you a symbolic gift: the first nuclear bomb that was developed in the Soviet Union in 1949,” Viktor Khrenin explained.
In response, Lukashenko emphasized that the modern version “looks different.”
“Our enemies must not think that we are obsessed with symbolism or that we are very happy with nuclear weapons. It’s just a symbolic thing,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
