French President Emmanuel Macron leaves the European Council early and returns to Paris for an emergency meeting over protests that erupted after the death of a 17-year-old boy who was shot by police.
French diplomatic sources revealed to Lusa that Macron must leave the Council meeting at 1pm local time (12pm in Lisbon) and return to the French capital.

The conflicts began in Nanterre on Tuesday evening and in the early hours of Thursday there were reports of destroyed buildings and burning cars.

The police officer suspected of the young man’s death is charged with murder and is in jail.
