US and British diplomats warned their nationals against riots in France, which followed the death of 17-year-old Nahel, shot dead by a police officer in Nanterre.
In its travel advisory, the British Foreign Office stresses this Friday that riots have been taking place “all over France” since June 27, with, in particular, the risk of disruption to transport and the possibility of curfews being established local level.
“The places and times of the riots are unpredictable,” writes the British Foreign Office.
Avoid meetings
The authorities are urging Britons to “follow the media”, “avoid areas where riots are taking place” and “follow the recommendations of the authorities”.
The United States posted a similar message on the website of its embassy in France on Thursday. “These protests are expected to continue and could turn violent,” he said. US citizens are urged to “avoid mass gatherings and areas of heavy police activity.”
The US authorities also recommend following the orders of the police and the authorities, as well as following the development of events in the media.
