Portuguese-French chef Serge Vieira, awarded two Michelin stars, passed away this Saturday in France from a long illness, his family said.
Serge Vieira, 46 years old, had already won the “Bocuse d’Or” award in 2005, considered the “World Cup” of confectionery and created by the legendary chef Paul Bocuse.
According to Lusojornal, published for the Portuguese community, since 2009 Serge Vieira, together with his wife, Marie-Aude, runs the restaurants “Relais et Château” — “Restaurant Serge Vieira”, with two Michelin stars, in the old castle of Chaudes -Aigues, in Cantal.
According to the same publication, the couple also opened the hotel (four stars) and bistro “Sodade” a few years ago.
Serge Vieira’s taste for cooking came, as he confessed to LusoJornal, from his Portuguese grandmother.
Serge Vieira was the only Portuguese with two stars in the Michelin guide in France, although there are several other Portuguese and Portuguese descendants with a star in the well-known gastronomic guide.
