Two buses, including a tourist bus, collided in New York borough of Manhattan on Thursday evening. leaving more than 80 injured, 18 of whom were hospitalized but not life-threatening, firefighters said.
The accident occurred around 7 p.m. (12 a.m. today in Lisbon) near Gramercy Park, New York Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Murphy said.

“Both buses seemed to be full,” said deputy chief of the fire department’s emergency medical service, Paul Hopper.
“We transported 18 patients to hospital,” he said, adding that there were no life-threatening injuries.
Another 63 passengers in the two vehicles received medical attention at the scene, Hopper said.
“Many of the injuries are cuts, bruises, abrasions, some suspected fractures and also some head and neck injuries,” he said.

Firefighters had to use ropes and ladders to remove passengers from the double-decker bus because one of the doors was damaged, said Murphy, who declined to name a cause for the collision.
