It took about 20 minutes of torrential rain for the city of Zaragoza, in northeastern Spain, to turn its streets into rivers late in the afternoon. About a dozen people had to be rescued from their vehicles and from trees they were clinging to to escape the force of the water.

The deluge began just before 6 p.m. local time on Thursday and lasted no more than 20 minutes. In addition to heavy rainfall, the region was also hit by the fall of large hailstones.
The transportation system in the Aragon region has suffered many disruptions and some damage to vehicles and buildings has been reported. However, there are no injuries or casualties.
