Former Brazilian President Lula da Silva could win the presidential elections in the first round on Sunday, according to a survey released this Saturday by the Datafolha institute.
The results of the survey are identical to the one carried out on Thursday. The latest debate between the candidates, which was marked by intense exchanges of corruption accusations, seems to have had no effect on voters.
Lula leads the contest with 50% of the valid votes, that is, without counting the blank and invalid votes, a criterion used by the electoral authorities for the election result, which keeps him with the possibility of winning as soon as the Sunday.
To win on Sunday, the former Brazilian president needs to have at least half (plus one) of the valid votes.
According to the survey, which has a margin of error of two percentage points, the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, follows him in second place with 36% of the valid votes.
Ciro Gomes and Simone Tebet have 6% and 5% voting intentions, respectively.
11 candidates are running for the Brazilian presidential elections: Jair Bolsonaro, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Ciro Gomes, Simone Tebet, Luís Felipe D’Ávila, Soraya Tronicke, Eymael, Padre Kelmon, Leonardo Pericles, Sofia Manzano and Vera Lúcia.
If none of the candidates obtains a majority of 50% plus one vote, the second round will be held on October 2, with the two most voted on the 30th.
