Russia attacked kyiv with a drone early this morning, causing little damage, according to local authorities. An attack that comes as NATO leaders prepare for a summit focused on supporting Ukraine against Moscow’s invasion.
“The enemy attacked Kiev from the air for the second time this month,” the kyiv military administration said on its Telegram account.
The attack used Iranian-made Shahed explosive drones launched southward, likely from Russia’s Krasnodar region.
“All detected air targets moving towards kyiv were destroyed by the forces and means of our air defense,” they added, without specifying how many drones were shot down.
The kyiv Interior Ministry said the wreckage of the drone was located at an undisclosed location in the kyiv region.
“Windows and annexes of private houses were damaged,” they revealed, adding that there was no immediate information on the victims.
kyiv, which had been relatively spared from attack since the beginning of the year, was targeted by frequent nighttime airstrikes in May.
