A lightning strike caused seven deaths and more than 10 injuries in the Gabu region, in the Boé sector, in Guinea-Bissau, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Local Power announced in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the same source, the accident occurred over the weekend and lightning struck the village of Poro, in the Boé sector, located a few kilometers from the border with Guinea-Conakry.
“The tragic event was caused by a strong electric shock,” says the Ministry of Territorial Administration, which regrets the event and offers its condolences to the families of the victims.
The rainy season in Guinea-Bissau began in May and will last until November.
