Three officers were killed and 10 injured in a bomb attack on police and prosecutors in western Mexico on Tuesday, the governor of Jalisco state said.
Employees of the Jalisco State Attorney’s Office and police “were the target of a cowardly explosives attack that, according to a preliminary balance sheet, caused the deaths of three elements of the municipal police and the Attorney’s Office, as well as 10 injuries,” wrote Governor Enrique Alfaro on the social network Twitter.

“This is an unprecedented event that shows what organized crime groups are capable of. This attack also poses a challenge to the Mexican state as a whole,” he said.
Enrique Alfaro also said the “Jalisco Security Office is in permanent session” and information will be provided “as the investigation progresses and official data is confirmed.”
