Ukraine’s president acknowledged on Wednesday that there is disagreement within NATO over the availability of cluster bombs by the United States, but noted that “there must be justice” since Russia also uses them.
“I know there are people who disagree with this support, but I wanted us to look at it from a justice perspective. Russia has always used these munitions in our territories, they are killing our people with them, in our occupied territory,” Volodymyr Zelensky said at a joint press conference with the Secretary General of the Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, on the last day. from the alliance summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.
“There has to be justice and it is not fair that the aggressor who is occupying our territory uses them,” he added.
Flanked by the secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the Ukrainian president promised that these bombs would only be used “against military personnel” of Russia inside the occupied territory of Ukraine.
“I would like to thank the United States, I know it was a challenge and that there are people in Congress who disagree with this support,” Volodymyr Zelensky completed.
