At that time, the country was coming out of several months of social tensions caused by Macron’s pension reform, and the head of state then set the date, coinciding with French National Day, which is celebrated annually and goes back to the date of the seizure of power. Bastille (July 14, 1789) -, for a “first evaluation” of the great projects that must be undertaken to close this chapter.
This Wednesday, the office of the French Presidency announced that Macron will not speak on July 14 and that he will do so “in the coming days”, without giving a date.
