Ukraine admits once again that its counter-offensive in Russia “is not moving so fast”

The counteroffensive launched by Ukraine is facing strong resistance from fighters from Moscow. She claims to have recovered less than 2 km from Russia in the last week.

The counter-offensive in kyiv against the resistance of the Russian forces “is not progressing so fast,” admitted once again this Friday the head of the Ukrainian presidency, Andriï Yermak.

“Today it is not moving so fast,” Andrii Iermak admitted to a small group of media, while assuring that his Western allies were not pressuring Kiev on this issue.

The Ukrainian army has recaptured only 1.7 km in a week from Russian forces, in the southern part of the front, a military spokesman announced on Friday.

Zelensky acknowledges ‘not rapid’ progress

Mykola Urchalovitch, a representative of the Ukrainian National Guard, said that around Kherson, “defense forces will continue to put pressure on the enemy” through reconnaissance and combat operations to “prepare the area for ‘offensive action.’

In eastern Ukraine, he said, “National Guard units are preparing a bridgehead to extend their offensive towards Avdiivka,” where clashes were recently reported.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky had already admitted last week that the current counter-offensive was slower than expected. “Offense isn’t fast, that’s a given,” he admitted. “However, we are advancing, we are not going backwards, like the Russians,” he assured, wanting to be optimistic.
