More than 4,200 people have been evacuated from their homes because of a huge forest fire that broke out early on Saturday on the Spanish island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands.
The flames broke out in the Puntagorda area and have already consumed some 4,650 hectares, according to the Spanish radio station Onda Cero, which quotes statements by the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, at a press conference.
Fernando Clavijo added that more than a hundred operatives were on the ground during the night, and that eleven aerial vehicles joined the shooting this morning.
