Russia says it has stopped 28 drone strikes in Crimea

Russia said on Tuesday it had thwarted another Ukrainian drone attack on objects on the annexed Crimean peninsula, just a day after the attack by unmanned naval vehicles on the Kerch bridge.

“The Kyiv regime’s attempt to carry out a terrorist attack with 28 unmanned aerial vehicles [drones] against objects on the territory of the Crimean peninsula has been thwarted tonight,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry indicated that 17 drones were destroyed by Russian air defenses and 11 suppressed by electronic warfare, ensuring none of the devices reached the target.

According to the department led by Sergey Shoigu, there were no casualties or material damage.

Russia-imposed Crimea governor Sergey Axyonov has again urged locals and the thousands of tourists visiting the peninsula to remain calm and trust only reliable sources of information.

The attack came 24 hours after a “terrorist attack” by two Ukrainian surface drones on the Kerch Bridge, better known as the Crimean Bridge, which connects the Ukrainian peninsula to Russia across the Kerch Strait.

Russia blamed Ukrainian secret services and “armed formations”. At least one couple from the Belgorod region of Russia died and the youngest daughter was injured.

Part of the roadway of the car section of the bridge, parallel to the track, was completely destroyed in the direction of Taman, Krasnodar Territory, Russia.

In the opposite direction, Taman-Kerch, the asphalt was moved between 70 and 80 centimetres, but after several analyzes and load tests, circulation has now resumed.
