At least 27 bodies have been found in more than a dozen clandestine graves in northwestern Mexico near the US border, a group searching for the missing has said.
“The bodies that have been removed are those of people who have been missing for one or two months, and others are between one and five years old,” explained Edith González, leader of the collective Amorlos Desaparecidos de Tamaulipas, quoted by the Mexican newspaper Excelsior.
The location of the remains was made Thursday after an anonymous call by an alleged former member of organized crime who claimed there were clandestine mass graves in the south of the town of Reynosa.
González indicated that the country has been used by organized crime to kill victims or rivals for more than five years.
On the other hand, the official denounced that the authorities are not taking the situation in Reynosa, located on the border with the US, seriously and asked the population to complain about it.
