Russia said today it had thwarted a new Ukrainian drone attack on objects in the annexed Crimean peninsula, just a day after the naval drone attack on the Kerch bridge.
“The kyiv regime’s attempt to carry out a terrorist attack using 28 UAVs [drones] against objects on the territory of the Crimean peninsula was thwarted tonight,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry indicated that 17 drones were destroyed by Russian anti-aircraft defense and 11 suppressed by electronic warfare, ensuring that none of the devices reached the target.
According to the department headed by Sergey Shoigu, there were no casualties and no material damage.
Crimea’s Russian-imposed governor, Sergey Axyonov, has once again urged locals and the thousands of tourists visiting the peninsula to remain calm and trust only reliable sources of information.
The attack came 24 hours after a “terrorist attack” by two Ukrainian surface drones on the Kerch Bridge, better known as the Crimean Bridge, which connects the Ukrainian peninsula with Russia across the Kerch Strait.
Russia blamed the attack on the Ukrainian secret services and “armed formations”. At least one couple from Russia’s Belgorod region was killed and the youngest daughter was injured.
Part of the carriageway of the automobile section of the bridge, parallel to the railway, was completely destroyed in the direction of Taman, in the Krasnodar Territory, Russia.
In the opposite direction, Taman-Kerch, the asphalt moved between 70 and 80 centimeters, but circulation has now resumed, after several analyzes and load tests.
