The UK annual inflation rate fell to 7.9% in June, the lowest level since March 2022, down from 8.7% in May, according to Britain’s National Statistics Office (ONS).
In the sixth month of 2023, the year-on-year increase in the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages was 17.3%, compared to the increase of 18.3% in the previous month.
Thus, the core CPI, which excludes the volatility of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices, moderated to 6.9% in June, two tenths less than in May, when it reached its highest level since March 1992.
In monthly terms, prices increased 0.1% in the sixth month of the year, compared to a rise of 0.8% in May.
