The routes created by the European Union (EU) to transport grain from Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s invasion enabled the export of about 41 million tons of agri-food products.
According to information made available this Wednesday by the European Commission, since the start of the war at the end of February last year, the routes created by the EU managed to export the equivalent of 60% of Ukrainian grains, seeds and other agri-food products.
The remaining 40% was through the agreement to transport grains through the Black Sea, which has been suspended since Monday due to the Kremlin’s refusal to extend it, as some parameters set to allow exports were not met.
At the same time, the canals opened by the European Union made it possible to transport 36 million tons of raw materials such as iron, steel and wood, generating more than EUR 33 billion in income for Ukrainian entrepreneurs and farmers.
