Residents of the southwestern region of Berlin, Germany, are being warned not to leave their homes this Thursday because a lioness is suspected to be on the loose in the city.
In a message posted on Twitter, the Brandenburg police explained that the wild animal is not there and urged the population to call the emergency number 110 if they see it.
Das entlaufende Wildtier wurde noch NICHT gefunden!
Wir bitten Sie weiterhin das Haus nicht zu verlassen. Wenn Sie das Tier sichten, bitte melden Sie es über den Notruf 110!

It’s unclear where the lioness fled: Police have already contacted every zoo, circus and animal shelter in the city, and none have confirmed any animals are missing.
According to AFP, the police received a video showing a lioness attacking and killing a wild boar, prompting the alert.

A search operation is underway, with several helicopters, police, hunters and veterinarians.
The authorities ask people living in Kleinmachnow, Teltow and Stahnsdorf to stay at home, as well as their pets. Alerts are still broadcast over loudspeakers and messages are sent to residents’ phones.
A spokeswoman for the Kleinmachnow municipality, which has about 20,000 residents, says kindergarten children are not allowed out into nearby gardens and market vendors have been ordered not to set up the usual stalls.
