Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said on Tuesday that the Kerch bridge in Crimea, as well as military installations on this Russian-annexed peninsula, are “official targets” of the Ukrainian armed forces.
“All of these targets are official targets because they will reduce the ability to fight [dos militares russos] against us, helping to save the lives of Ukrainians,” the Ukrainian defense minister told CNN television.
“It is a normal tactic to destroy the logistics lines of the enemy to prevent their ability to get more ammunition, more fuel or more food. That is why we will use these tactics” against the Russians, Reznikov said, referring to the Kerch bridge.
On the other hand, Reznikov also accused Russia of acting as a “terrorist state” after the latest attacks against several Ukrainian grain warehouses, which occurred days after Moscow decided not to extend the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain from Black Sea ports.
The Russian government justified these attacks as retaliation for the attacks carried out against some of its strategic facilities, such as the Kerch bridge.
Reznikov assured that the Russians “are fighting against the Ukrainian civilian population.”
According to the Ukrainian Defense Minister, this is why Ukrainians classify Russians as “looters, rapists and murderers.”
A week ago, one of the sections of the Kerch bridge, which connects the Crimean peninsula with the Russian region of Krasnodar, was hit by several ‘drones’, in an attack that resulted in two deaths.
Ukraine avoided taking responsibility for the attack and even accused Russia of having committed it. Moscow, for its part, denounced kyiv as responsible for the incident of the bridge in Crimea.
The Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea was annexed to Russia in 2014.
The military offensive launched on February 24, 2022 by Russia in Ukraine has so far caused the flight of more than 14.7 million people -6.5 million internally displaced persons and more than 8.2 million to European countries-, according to the latest UN data, which classifies this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since the Second World War (1939-1945).
The Russian invasion – justified by Russian President Vladimir Putin as the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – was condemned by the broader international community, which has responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and imposing political and economic sanctions on Russia.
