At least three people died this morning in the city of Lutsk, in Volyn, in the western region of Ukraine, in a new attack with Russian missiles that affected other cities in the country.
In addition to the fatalities, the attack, which targeted several businesses in the city, also caused several injuries who had to be hospitalized, the head of the Volyn Military Administration, Yuri Pogulyajko, was quoted as saying by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.
The Russian bombardment affected other cities and the air raid alert was activated throughout the country at around 04:00 local time (02:00 in Lisbon).
A Russian missile hit a factory in Dnipro, in central Ukraine, injuring at least two people, including a 70-year-old man who was taken to hospital, and starting a fire in an 800-square-meter industrial area, which has already been destroyed deceased, said the head of the Dnipro Military Administration Sergey Lysak.
There were also attacks in Lviv, in western Ukraine, one of which caused “great destruction” in a neighborhood with more than 100 houses, the city’s mayor said.
“Fortunately there are no victims,” said Andrey Sadovy, on the Telegram messaging platform, adding that four people had received medical attention, although none were in danger of death.
According to military sources, cited by Ukrinform, Russian forces fired some 28 cruise missiles last night, of which 16 were intercepted by Ukraine’s anti-aircraft defenses.
The missiles were fired from Russian bomber planes operating in the Caspian Sea region and from a frigate in the Black Sea.
Late Monday afternoon there were also attacks in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, which left two dead and one wounded.
