At least 6 people have been killed and 26 injured in militia groups in Libya

The health ministry called for a two-hour ceasefire to evacuate people trapped in combat zones.

The clashes started when the head of Brigade 444, Mahmoud Hamza, was detained by the Special Deterrence Forces (Rada).

Presidential Council Chairman Mohamed Manfi, in his capacity as commander-in-chief of the army, urged “all belligerents to immediately cease hostilities”.

The request was joined by the United Nations Special Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), the European Union and the embassies of France, the United States and Great Britain.

The ambulance and emergency service announced that medical staff, patients and families could be evacuated from clinics in the combat zones, on the road to Shouk.

The 444 Brigade claimed to have taken full control of the Ain Zara area on the outskirts of Tripoli and prevented Rada members from entering.

Libyan airline Wings has canceled two flights, one to Tunisia and one to Istanbul, from Mitiga airport, which has been moving its operations to Misrata airport since this morning.

The two militias, with broad control in the Libyan capital, support the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GUN), Abdelhamid Dbeiba, against the parallel executive governing the east of the country, and the Rada is linked to the Presidential Council .

The current military escalation is the worst this year, after a relative lull in which political actors put forward a “roadmap” to call general elections and end the long and unstable transition process that followed the fall of President Muammar Gaddafi started in 2011. .
